*Beth Charles
Just Over the Hill
Acrylic and gloss gel, 24”x24”
*
Born and raised in Michigan, Beth and her family have been residents of
Holland since 1996. She is a 1987 cum laude graduate of the University of
Michigan, having earned her Bachelors of Fine Arts with concentrations in
painting, drawing and illustration. Prior to coming to Holland, Beth
painted andexhibited her work in Dallas, Texas and Phoenix, Arizona.
Beth’s favored media is acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas which allows for
the painting to continue over the edge and around the sides, adding
dimension and a surprise to the viewer. Her subject matter ranges from
floral to abstract with a focus on realism. She has been working
increasingly more with the palette knife and acrylic mediums to enhance the
movement, color and texture of her work.
The ability to demonstrate painting techniques and understand color has led
to Beth’s success in teaching classes and workshops 8 months of the year.
She often collaborates with interior designers, private parties and gallery
owners to create commissioned art that meets their imaginative expectations
and design needs. Beth currently owns her own business, Beth Charles Art,
where she is a featured artist.
